If you've been waiting with bated breath to hear if Angelina Jolie would reprise her role as Maleficent, we have good news. On April 25, Disney confirmed that the actress will set foot again in Sleeping Beauty's whimsical live-action kingdom.

Jolie, who portrayed the once-evil fairy in 2014's box office hit Maleficent, has officially signed on for a sequel to the fantasy film. Screenwriter Linda Woolverton, who wrote the screenplay for the first film, is also confirmed to return for the follow-up flick — more good news for an industry struggling with a proven absence of gender diversity behind the camera — which was announced back in June 2015.

Previously, the question of whether Jolie would reprise her role was a hot topic in Hollywood, with USA Today reporting that when they asked the actress (who famously turned down sequels for both Salt and Wanted, two action hits starring the actress) back in 2014 about the possibility of returning for a sequel, she didn't seem optimistic about her involvement.

"Possibly," she told the news site. "I don’t know. I enjoyed it. I just feel like we did this one thoroughly and I don’t think there [would] be another. I feel like this is the one, if I was going to ever do a Disney one, this is the one I wanted to do. And I think we’ve done it well."

So well, it would seem, that Jolie ultimately decided it would warrant her return.
