This Saturday, the streets of Lawton will welcome on of the nation’s largest Armed Forces Day parades. With a theme of “Legacy built on sacrifice”, this years parade will wind through the streets of downtown Lawton, coming to an end at Elmer Thomas Park on Northwest Ferris Avenue. But while the parade may come to an end at the Park, the celebration will just be starting, as a full day of music, entertainment and barbeque for the entire family is schedule throughout the day.

This year's parade is schedule to start at 10 a.m. at the corner of "C" Avenue and 6th Street, will travel north on 11th streets and Ft Sill Blvd until reaching Ferris Avenue and heading east to the park. It is scheduled to include the Lawton Police and Fire Departments, the Marine Corp League-Boomer Department, the Fort Sill Color Guard, the 77th Army band and much more.

Over 10 hours of family fun is scheduled for the festival at Elmer Thomas Park. There will be several bouncy houses for the younger members of the family throughout the day. Miscellaneous events for the public to run throughout the day include bounce houses, a petting zoo, magic and comedy shows, Lowes "Build and Grow" kids clinics, Lawton R/C Raceway demos, Armed forces recruiters and food & merchandise vendors.
