Beatles, David Bowie Engineer Ken Scott Releases Memoir

Wouldn’t you love to have been a fly on the wall during the recording sessions for some of your favorite albums? Ken Scott, who worked on classics by the Beatles, David Bowie and Elton John, has released a memoir, ‘Abbey Road to Ziggy Stardust.’

Subitled, ‘Off the Record with the Beatles, Bowie, Elton and So Much More,’ Scott’s book is filled with interesting observations and humorous anecdotes, from his beginnings at Abbey Road Studios as a 16-year old in the tape library to becoming of the most respected producers in the industry.

Along the way he was an engineer or producer for such records as ‘The Beatles,’ ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars,’ ‘Honky Chateau’ and ‘Crime of the Century.’ Watch the trailer below to see many of his other credits.

He was also an important name in the jazz fusion scene through his credits on albums by the Mahavishnu Orchestra, the Dixie Dregs and Stanley Clarke. Scott was recently elected to the Sound Fellowship of the Association of Professional Recording Services (U.K.) as a recognition of his accomplishments throughout a long and distinguished career.

Co-written by Bobby Owsinski, ‘Abbey Road to Ziggy Stardust’ also discusses the technical details of record production and contains many never-before seen photos.
