Only 8 teams remained in the class 5-A  playoffs this past Friday night and the winners of the 4 games being played across the state would advance to the semi-finals next week. MacArthur was one of those elite eight and had to travel up the turnpike 3 hours to take on the Collinsville Cardinals just north of Tulsa.

The night was a warmer than usual November night with a small breeze blowing the American flag in the end zone and a light mist that sailed past the stadium lights at the start of the ballgame. The energy was high from the visiting team which had more fans in the stands then it seemed from the home town crowd. The Highlanders took advantage of the opening kickoff and never really looked back scoring quickly on a 3 play 62 yard score with just 29 seconds to start the game and a quick 7-0 lead. The Cardinals capitalized on their biggest play of the game after a 3 and out stop but the Highlanders and a muffed punt by Big Mac which gave the Cardinals offence a fresh start inside the Mac 21. The Cardinals found themselves quickly in the end zone with their only completed pass of the night in the corner of the end zone and just like that the game was tied at 7 a piece. After a punt and a missed field goal the Highlanders would get into the end zone for a third time late in the first half and lead 21-7 at the half both teams would score again in the second half and Big Mac took the momentum with a great run game in the second half and a 35-14 win. The Highlanders now 11-1 showed they are strong on the ground as well as in the air finishing 292 yards on the ground and 210 through the air and now advance with a trip to Choctaw for a rematch of last years semi final matchup with McAlister who is also 11-1 and coming off a impressive win over Del City 56-8. Revenge from last years loss will be on everyone's minds on a short week during Thanksgiving. It will be the battle of the Big Mac's 2.
