Doobie Brothers' legendary drummer Michael Hossack has passed away at 65 from cancer.In a statement issued by his Doobie Brothers bandmates said, "when 'Big Mike' wasn't in the studio or on tour, he was either riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, or spending time with his two children."

Hossack played with the Doobie Brothers  from 1971 to 1973 and rejoined them in 1987. His drumming can be heard on early hits such as Listen To The Music, China Grove, Jesus Is Just Alright, and Blackwater. He stopped performing with the band two years ago while struggling with cancer.

In 2010, Hossack wrote a message to his fans explaining that while "it's been hard not touring with the band," he had "incredible support" from his family, friends and the Doobie Brothers.
