It's not the end of the word, probably.  It's some wicked-cool science, though.  The Blood Moon is a series of four lunar eclipses that will start on April 15th.  They will change the colors that we see and the moon will appear to be red.  It's happened for centuries and is known as the tetrad.  In fact, I remember sitting on top of our studios in Wichita Falls in 2003 to observe one.

The interesting this about this Blood Moon -- it falls during the full moon -- and during two major Jewish observances (Passover on April 4 / 15th and Sukkot on Spetember 28th and October 8th).

Those dates have the apocalypse people all excited.  I've seen this verse from Revelations posted a dozen times already:

"I watched as he opened the sixth seal.  There was a great earthquake.  The Sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair.  The whole Moon turned blood red."

The whole calendar thing isn't a huge mystery.  Passover is ALWAYS during a full moon.  A lunar eclipse can, by definition, ONLY happen during a full moon.  There are over 50 lunar eclipses each century -- so, no biggie. . .

Except . . .lunar eclipses do have some fun in history.  One happened just before Constantinople fell in the 1400's.  One happened the night the Red Sox won the World Series . . . so there has to be something to it, right?

If you really want to get all freaked out, there are prophecy websites all over the place that are predicting major events (I think these nuts are learning that you have to be less specific in your prophecy.  The Bible says that a prophet who says something that does not come to pass is then a false prophet and, therefore, can never be trusted.  Some day, more Christians will know that and dump these guys who do the Prophecy dance with people's wallets and emotions).

So, I've already got my taxes done -- so I'll be enjoying the Blood Moon (no ritual sacrifice, no hiding in a bomb shelter) laying out on the trampoline in the back yard eating snacks with my kid.
