It turns out that Brian Wilson didn't stop at Jeff Beck when he was lining up collaborators for his next album.

According to an article set to run in an upcoming issue of Rolling Stone that's been posted at Wilson's site, he's enlisted something of an all-star lineup for the still-untitled new LP, including young country star Kacey Musgraves, hip-hop star Frank Ocean, pop singer Lana Del Rey, and Zooey Deschanel. Song titles reportedly include 'Sharing a New Day,' 'On the Island,' 'Last Love,' and 'Special Song.'

"This project blows my mind," Wilson's quoted as saying. "I had no idea we could pull this off!"

Wilson isn't the only one who was surprised: Reaction from fans has apparently been decidedly mixed, to the point that he felt the need to publish a Facebook post reminding his online community that the guy who wrote 'Good Vibrations' can record whatever he darn well pleases. "It kind of bums me out to see some of the negativity here about the album I’ve been working so hard on," he wrote. "In my life in music, I’ve been told too many times not to f--- with the formula, but as an artist it’s my job to do that -- and I think I’ve earned that right. I’m really proud of these new songs and to hear these great artists sing on them just blows me away. I love what we’ve done."

At the very least, concluded Wilson, fans should reserve judgment until they've actually heard what he's up to. "I would think that after making music for more than fifty years, my fans would understand that I’ll always do what’s in my heart -- and I think that’s why you are my fans," he pointed out. "So let’s just wait until the album comes out because I think you just might dig it as much as I do."
