Several students from the Communication Department at Cameron University were honored last week at the Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association 2015 Student Media Competition. The event took place at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The students were recognized for their outstanding achievements in student broadcasting. The categories were: Radio Feature News Story, TV Entertainment/Talk Program, TV Commercial, Radio Newscast and TV Newscast.

The prestigious event began with a career fair which gave the students the opportunity to speak with numerous media outlets and representatives about possible opportunities for employment. There was an awards luncheon to celebrate the winners from various Oklahoma Colleges and Universities. Special seminars in the areas of Critical Thinking, Cool Online Tools and How to be a Social Media Superstar were presented in order to further educate participants about new and innovative applications available in the fields of Journalism and Media Production.

The honorees of this competition are a direct reflection of the remarkable things that are taking place in the Communication Department at Cameron University. Boasting a newly built state-of-the-art television studio and an exceptional staff willing to go the extra mile for their students, it is no surprise that every year this department produces such an esteemed body of work, worthy of tribute.

Congratulations to Tanika Gentry, Haley Wilson, MaKenzie Burk, Haley Berry, Todd Spargo, Alexsis Page and Morgan Thompson for the impressive work they exhibited and for representing Cameron University with excellence.
