The Ride for Change returned to Lawton, Fort Sill today (05-06-21) thanks to Diamondback Harley Davidson. My twin brother from a different mother and fellow broadcasting blood brother Frank Pain has hit the road on his Harley for his annual 10 market, multi-state road trip. This year The Ride for Change is raising awareness and funds to assist low income families with children who want to participate in school band and music education. We hope to raise enough money to help every kid who wants to be a part of their school's band program the opportunity to do so.

A new law in Oklahoma will now require all high school students to take and pass the U.S. Citizenship Test in order to graduate with a full standard diploma. (HB 2030) was signed into law by Governor Kevin Stitt earlier this week along with other legislation.

How would you like to become pen pals with a buffalo? Okay, okay I know technically they're called American Bison. But around here we call them buffalo, or at least most of us do anyway. There's a herd of bison in N.E. Oklahoma who are getting a lot of fan mail and even sending out postcards and letters to their fans. These buffalo enjoy receiving mail and would like for you to send them a letter. You can ask questions or just tell them about yourself. Who knows you might get a letter back and start a beautiful friendship!

The Oklahoma House of Representatives passed a bill earlier this week (SB-02) on Monday (04-19-21) that bans transgender girls from participating in women's sports. It passed the House by a (73-19) vote. The bill would prohibit biological male athletes from competing in women's sports in K-12 schools as well as universities.

The NCAA is planning on playing a tournament in the state over the next decade, but they could end it if this new bill passes.

Get ready, the City of Lawton will be hosting it's "Spring into Success" career fair on Thursday, April 29th (04-29-21) at Lawton City Hall 212 S.W. 9th Street from 10:00am until 3:00pm. The city has several potions and job opening available that you can apply for. If you're currently looking for a job, or want to make a career change, don't miss the "Spring into Success" career fair.

The main topic for the past several weeks has been the loosening of COVID-19 restrictions and mask mandates. Seems more and more cities, counties and states are doing way with their mandatory regulations and rules concerning public health, as it relates to the pandemic. Of course this has caused a lot of heated debate and arguments over the past couple of weeks. Some say it's too early and others are saying it's about time. Now that we have a wide spread COVID-19 vaccine and most of the population is getting vaccinated, we're all wondering when we'll be seeing a return to normal?

The Oklahoma House of Representatives just passed House Bill 2588 which would allow teachers, administrators and other school personnel to carry firearms on school campuses. The new bill would require that they possess a valid handgun license and met other requirements and criteria set forth by the board of education in their respective districts. HB 2588 passed the house by a (79-19) vote and will now head to the Senate.

The Ride for Change minority scholarship is now taking applications from all graduating, minority senior high school students in the Lawton, Fort Sill area. This is one of the craziest stories I've heard in awhile. I guess it's somewhat common knowledge that OSU (Oklahoma State University) has a bat problem. I say somewhat common because I had no idea, but when I started telling others about it they were like "Yeah, who doesn't know that." Well, I didn't know until just now. I guess the campus has bats living in the buildings and all over the place, including the dorms themselves.
