Over the weekend in the Catskills, a massive fire destroyed the majority of the Grandview Palace condominium complex, which inspired Kellerman’s Resort in the classic ’80s movie ‘Dirty Dancing.’ Just goes to show, nobody puts Baby in the corner, especially if the building is on fire.

The complex opened as Brown’s Hotel during World War II and was one of several Catskills resorts used as inspiration in the hit 1987 film starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze. In recent years, the complex had been converted into condominiums.

The fire reportedly started in the basement boiler room around 6PM on Saturday. More than 40 fire companies and 300 firefighters battled the blaze for several hours before the flames were extinguished.

In the end, seven of the nine buildings on the grounds were destroyed by the fire, which a local paper has described as “the largest in Catskills history.” Fortunately, no one was reported injured or killed in the blaze. Still, we somehow suspect it was Lisa Housman’s fault. She was always mucking everything up for her sister Baby.
