Views of Drake on the rapper's forthcoming Summer Sixteen tour will only come from a distance — even for his most ardent fans.

Fan VIP packages, some of which cost $1000 and included photo ops, have all been canceled, according to PeopleThe site says Drake has done away with meet and greets because of "scheduling issues" but is in the process of refunding those who have already shelled out cash to see the rapper up close and personal.

Drake's announcement comes amid mounting tenseness surrounding fan events in pop music. On June 11, former Voice standout Christina Grimmie was killed by an obsessed fan who shot her multiple times during an autograph signing event at an Orlando concert. And in March, Justin Bieber announced he was canceling future meet and greets because of the stress they put on him, and how unhealthy they'd begun to make him feel.

"I enjoy meeting such incredible people but I end up feeling so drained and filled with so much of other people’s spiritual energy that I end up so drained and unhappy,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression

Drake and Future's Summer Sixteen tour will kick off on July 20 in Austin and wrap up on September 17 in Vancouver.
