The most heartbreaking sports story of the year just got more even more heartbreaking.

Lauren Hill is a freshman on the Mount Saint Joseph basketball team with an inoperable brain tumor who got to play in a game before she died. That game took place this past weekend.

Hill is not expected to live past December, so the NCAA allowed her team to move up its season opener in order to let her experience the thrill of playing. The freshman scored on lay-up 17 seconds into the game, making hers the first basket of the 2014-2015 season. She also scored the games final basket in a 65-55 Mt St. Joseph win.

Her story gained so much attention the venue had to be moved to a 10,000 seat arena at Xavier University where her coach drew up a play just for her to sink a bucket. Watch the video above to see her story.
