Ed Sheeran Fondly Recalls Smashing Justin Bieber’s Face With a Golf Club
In a new interview with The Guardian, Sheeran remembers one particularly drunken night in which he and Bieber got up to no good. More specifically: They decided to make Bieber's mouth a tee, off of which Sheeran would drive a single golf ball.
"We were in Japan. We’d been out to a dive bar. He just drank water and I got hammered. Then we went to a golf course, and he lay on the floor and put a golf ball in his mouth and told me to hit it out of his mouth," Sheeran said. "I was like, ‘F---, I need to aim this properly,’ and I swung. And you know in films when someone gets punched, and you hear that fake sound, like a slap? But in real life when someone gets punched, you hear that dull thud, a bit sickening?"
“I’d cracked Justin Bieber right in the cheek with a golf club," he concluded. That was one of those ‘What the f---' moments.”
In a separate BBC interview, Sheeran said he's excited artists like Beyonce, Adele and Drake all released albums last year, freeing up pop so that his new ÷ album won't face such serious competition. Still, he expects buddy Taylor Swift will be swooping in sometime soon to keep him honest.
"Taylor isn't going to be releasing until probably the end of this year — Christmas is the smartest time to release because that's when everyone buys records," he said. "So I've got a full year of just all Ed, all the time."
