On Saturday, students from the mentor program at Eisenhower High School in Lawton decided to raise money for a good cause and have some fun while they were doing it. Students from the Ignition program held a community carnival to raise money and awareness of the hunger problem in Lawton.

Each semester, students in the program, which is run by the students and is geared towards community service and mentoring other students, come up with a project to be implemented during the following semester. Last semester the students of the program came up the community carnival.

Program members have been hard at work developing and planning Saturday's festivities since October. Their main motivation through all the hard work was to give back to the community. The payoff, in the end, was the fun they had, and they joy that others attending the community carnival experienced. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Salvation Army, targeting feeding those in need in the Lawton area.
