Liz Ryan’s Favorite Present: A Kindle Fire

sents this year.  My sweet husband gave me a beautiful set of garnet jewelry.  Now:  It is beautiful, but I can't really see it unless I look in the mirror.

So, I guess my other favorite "toy" this year was from Santa and was the Kindle Fire.  This is a tablet that does everything from connect to Facebook to let you read books to surf online.

I've been addicted to it for a few reasons.  My first reason is Netflix.  I had this on my phone but the tiny little screen and the lack of stable 3G service in my area makes it hard to watch anything without several annoying bouts of buffering.  The Fire, however, uses wireless from our home network or any hotspot. . .so I've watched about 7 episodes of Monk in the last two days.

Second:  I am loving the reading.  So much so that I woke up at 4am thinking about the new book I downloaded yesterday (yes, yesterday).  I thought, "I can read for a few minutes until I get sleepy and want to go back to sleep."

The next thing I knew, my husband's alarm was going off at 6am and I was 10 pages from finishing.  So, there was really no point is trying to go back to sleep.  I see this as a problem that will require me to leave the Kindle Fire downstairs.  By the way, I was reading the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy.  It's primarily for teenagers, but I strongly recommend it.

So, expect to see more of me on Facebook.  Expect to see more posts from me here . . . until my husband takes my new toy away because I haven't looked at or spoken to him in a few weeks.
