Fort Sill to Test Automated Gate Access for Army

The Army will begin testing a new automated entry system at Fort Sill Feb. 5

Army evaluators will be on hand to make sure the Automated Installation Entry System 3, the only one of its kind in the Army right now, is performing as advertised.

The process will be gradual and begin Monday, Jan. 29. Each of Fort Sill’s gates will be tested at various times of the day next week.

“Motorists should not notice a change at all,” said Lt. Col. Kurt Nielson, Fort Sill Provost Marshal. “This testing will only last three weeks and then the Army will evaluate the data.”

Each AIES3 consists of different scanners than can scan the bar code or chip embedded in a military or dependent identification card. Like the current Mobilisa system, the software will be able to do a quick background check. The system also includes a gate arm that will raise and lower to block or let traffic through.

 Motorists should understand entry procedures to Fort Sill have not changed. A pass is required from all non-DoD ID card holders. The Visitor Control Center hours have not changed. They are 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Mon-Fri and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sat-Sun.
