After walking into spiderwebs and being just a girl, No Doubt is back and ready for business.

According to Gwen Stefani, the band is working on a new album, but it isn’t as easy as pie. The group is ”desperate” to write good songs. “We wish we were good enough to craft it and have a vision, but our songwriting process is sort of desperate — we’re just praying that something comes out,” Stefani told Q magazine.

Other than her singing career, Stefani also plays the role of a mother to her two sons, Kingston and Zuma, along with being a wife to husband and rocker, Gavin Rossdale. With her busy life, the band has created a schedule for writing sessions between 5 p.m. and midnight. “That’s the horror of any creative person, to have to be creative between certain times,” she said.

Prince also had some words of wisdom for the pop princess when it comes to songwriting. “Prince once said to me, ‘Do you ever just try and write a hit song? You know, instead of trying to be all arty about it?’”

No Doubt hasn’t released an album since 2001. The ’Rock Steady’ album has favorites you could (and can still) jam to while in the car, at the bar or when cleaning your house. Popular hits include ’Hey Baby,’ ‘Hella Good’ and ’Underneath It All.’

In 2003, they also released a compilation featuring ‘It’s My Life,’ yet another hit. Before getting the band back together in 2008, Stefani went solo and recorded two albums.
