The nominations are in and I've been thinking about this for several days:  should I or should I not tell you how well I know my Oscar nominations?

The answer:  NO statue for ME!

Not only have I not seen many of the nominees, I don't even know what most of them are.  I would be ashamed about this but I think you might be in the same boat.  So, I'm going to tell you what I THINK these movies nominated for Best Picture are about and also tell you the truth about whether or not I have seen them:

Best Picture

"The Artist" -- I think there is a movie called "The Artist" about every three years at the Oscars.  So, I'm not sure if this is the new one or just someone trying to get a little extra attention.  I think this one is about the silent movie era, but I couldn't hear the trailer for it on TV. . .so I'm not really sure. Haven't seen it.

"The Descendants" -- I thought this was a scary movie at first, but then I decided a horror flick would never be nominated so this must be the one with George Clooney.  Haven't seen it.

"Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" -- This is not a "I just haven't seen it yet" movie.  This is an "I'M NOT READY FOR 9/11 MOVIES YET" movie.  I'm.  Not.  Ready.

"The Help" -- This is the ONLY movie on this list that I own / have seen part of.  What I cannot tell you is how it ends or what happens in the middle.  The first time, I fell asleep.  The second time. . . sleep.  I WILL watch this before the Oscars! Have seen SOME of it!!

"Hugo" -- Never saw it. Read the book.  It was really HEAVY.  Not like emotionally heavy. . but the book weighed about 4 lbs.  And I bought it at the Airport so I had to lug it all around the country.  I got bitter so I refused to watch the movie.

"Midnight in Paris"  --  Never. Heard. Of. It.

"Moneyball"  --  This looked too much like a boy movie with feelings.  My husband wouldn't go so, well, I didn't go either. Never saw it.

"The Tree of Life"  --  I don't like movies with really long pauses while people reflect on things.  This movie looked like it would be full of that stuff.  If it didn't, please let me know. . .I'm great at DVD's!  liz@my1073fm.com Never Saw It.

"War Horse"  --  Movies with Animals That I like:  um. . . . wait, I think of one. . . .I can't think of one.  Why?  Because in most SERIOUS, Oscar-worthy animal movies. . . animal dies.  No thanks!  P.S. I don't know if the horse dies, but it is a war, so someone is gonna. Never Saw It.

So, what HAVE I seen??  Way down in Animated Feature Film, "Rango" was nominated.  Saw that.  In Art Direction, "Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part II" is nominated.  Saw THAT.

We'll see what happens.  Oscars will be Feb. 26th on ABC.  Meanwhile, send me your reviews of the above movies (if YOU actually saw them).
