The Oklahoma Department of Education has announced a one year pilot program for high school juniors in the public school system in Oklahoma can take the ACT for free this school year.

State Superintendent Joy Hofmeister hopes that launching this program will help students have access to college without having to worry about paying for the test or traveling to an ACT testing center.

Officials state that the state funded $1.5 million dollar program will give 22,000 public high school juniors the opportunity to take the test.

The ACT tests will begin in spring and will be taken at the students own high schools. The State Department of Education believes that the familiar surroundings will also help with test anxiety.
