John Oates: Honored at TV Land Awards

John Oates is a bit puzzled why Hall and Oates are being honored on Sunday Night's TV Land Awards. He thinks it's because their songs "represent a lot of the decades" when such shows as Family Ties, Welcome Back Kotter and Facts of Life were at their peak. Plus the duo's popular and well-produced videos were staples of MTV when it was a huge music channel. Surprisingly, unlike pop rivals such as John Sebastian, Andrew Gold, Donny Hathaway and B.J. Thomas, they neither sang nor wrote a theme for a TV series, nor does John ever recall the duo ever receiving such an offer.

John Oates performs with his band tonight (Friday) at Showcase Live in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Hall and Oates kick off their summer schedule June 8th at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey.
