BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge provides the opportunity for artists to showcase their talent — and shock with some unexpected choices. (Adele covering Cheryl Cole, anyone?)

Justin Bieber's appearance on the popular program today (September 1) proves no exception. And, unlike the rest of the series, this special mini-concert was performed right from his house in Los Angeles. (!)

The Purpose singer tackled two acoustic covers: Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" — which he's been covering on his Purpose Tour — and, perhaps less expected, Tupac Shakur's "Thugz Mansion."

For hardcore Beliebers, however, the Tupac choice likely comes as no surprise at all. “I was always that fearless kid who would jump onstage or do whatever. My dad would be like, ‘Rap that 2Pac verse,’ and I’d do ‘Thugz Mansion’ -- I was probably 8,” he told Billboard last year.

In addition to the covers, he also performed quite a few tracks from his own catalog, including Purpose tracks "Love Yourself," "What Do You Mean?", Major Lazer collabo "Cold Water" and "Let Me Love You" with DJ Snake.
