Actress and writer Lena Dunham has never been one to hold her tongue or shy away from revealing intimate details about herself, her body, or her life. This has never been more clear than in Allison P. Davis' new profile of Dunham for New York's The Cut.

When Dunham's breakup with Jack Antonoff went public at the top of 2018, it was rumored he quickly started dating her close friend, singer-songwriter Lorde. In the new interview Dunham admits that the rumors were, "so embarrassing," adding "it was awful."

Addressing rumors that a Lorde and Antonoff romance started while she and Antonoff were still dating, Dunham reveals she hasn't spoken to Lorde since. “I don't think anything happened between them. I can never know someone else's life. I have never spoken to Ella [Lorde] about it. We haven't talked since Jack and I broke up. It was awful, and I couldn’t do anything about it except trust that what he was saying to me was true.”

Elsewhere in the feature Dunham opens up about her hysterectomy, having her uterus removed late last year in her battle with endometriosis. "It's really amazing, in points of extreme distress, how things you thought were nonnegotiable start to become negotiable," says Dunham. "I thought I would do anything to have a kid naturally. Turned out that wasn't true."

Dunham also gets candid reflecting on her professional (and likely personal) split with writing/production partner Jenni Konner earlier this year. "Maybe my illness made me impossible to be close to, maybe my fame made me impossible to be close to ...I’ll work that stuff out in the future, but I was not operating in healthy relationship to the people closest to me.”

The pair famously worked together on the hit HBO series Girls and new HBO comedy series Camping with Jennifer Garner.
