Last Friday and Saturday, the Oklahoma State High School Wrestling Championships took place at the Fairgrounds Arena in Oklahoma City, and six Southwest Oklahoma wrestlers came away with individual State Championships in their respective weight classes.

In Class 5A, Wyatt Adams of MacArthur High in Lawton was the winner in the 106 pound division, while Dillan Rowland took the title in the 132 pound class, and Nick Mahan won in the 160 pound class. Altus' Montorie Bridges took home the title in the 126 pound division, while teammate Taven Birdow took the state title in the 220 pound division. In Class 4A, Elgin's Jacob Butler emerged the state champion in the 126 pound weight division.

Local schools did not fare so well as Lawton High finished 22nd in the state 6A team competition. In Class 5A, MacArthur, bolstered by 4 individual state titles finished 3rd in the state, Altus finished 4th and Duncan 19th. Elgin finished 6th in the 4A team competition, while Anadarko finished 25th in the division. In class 3A, Comanche finished the tournament 19th and Walters finished the season in 24th place.
