"Sweet Home Alabama, where the skies are so blue." Yeah how many times have you jammed to that song at the top of your voice? Lynyrd Skynyrd. A name that is to rock music as Walter Cronkite is to CBS news. We sing the songs, we know them all. We have listened to their albums over and over. And of course all of us old enough to remember that night in October of 1977 when their plane they had chartered ran out of fuel and crashed in Mississippi.

The loss of Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines left a void in the band and all of us were left to wonder if they would ever record or perform again.

It took awhile but they did over the years regroup an emerge again. But now the younger brother of Ronnie Van Zant, Johnny is battling a serious staph infection. He was hospitalized in Minneapolis for complications due to previous surgery. And because of this they are having to cancel shows.

Once the doctors give him the green light, the group has plans to resume the tour schedule.
