There are about a million reasons why Jennifer Maldonado has the best coworkers in the world.

Maldonado’s colleagues at Keller Williams Partner Realty in Plantation, Florida are sharing their $1 million Powerball prize with her, even though she didn’t go in on any tickets.

And you think the guy in your office who springs for Starbucks every once in a blue moon is nice?

Maldonado had only been with the company for about two weeks when someone in the office began collecting $20 from each person in order to buy Powerball tickets. Maldonado hadn’t even been paid yet and wanted to save some money, so she decided not to join in because “I hadn’t gotten a paycheck and I was watching my pennies.”

Bad move.

One of the tickets the office got was a $1 million winner. They hit five numbers, although they missed the red Powerball number, which would’ve added a few commas to their winning paycheck.

After taxes, each player is expected to get somewhere in the ballpark of $83,000 and they all agreed to spread the wealth with Maldonado by giving her a portion of their winnings, although they won’t say how much her pay day will be.

Why so generous?

Realtor Laurie Finkelstein Reader believes in karma, saying, “If we do the right thing and always care about other people, the right thing will happen to us.”

The office is one of 13 $1 million winners, while the real lucky winner is a New Jersey man who claimed the $338 million prize.
