South & West: Most Marriages & Divorces

People in southern and western states are known for marriage, but according to new research from the 2010 census survey, this area of the country is also growing to become the largest area of divorce.Nation-wide, there were a little over 17.5 weddings per 1,ooo couples.  By region, the south marries at a rate of about 19 per 1,000 couples

That's the warm and fuzzy part.  Now for the other foot.  It drops like a stone.  We also lead the country in divorces.  About 20 people get divorced for every 10,000 in residence.

Want to know how we stack up against other states?  Maine, Alaska, Oklahoma Kentucky and Nevada, ranked at the top for divorces while Utah, Wyoming and Arkansas have the highest marriage rates.
