As I sat at the kitchen table eating my heart healthy and cholesterol lowing cereal ‘ Honey Nut Cheerios’; this morning, I got to thinking about all the truly tasty cereals that I use to love when I was a kid. Here is a list of my 5 favorite cereals as I was growing up.

    Honeycomb

Well I wasn’t a member of the Honeycomb Hideout Club, but I did enjoy the Honey flavored corn cereal bits in a honeycomb shape. I have only tried the original Honeycomb but after doing research I found out that there are some new flavors of Honeycomb, Strawberry Blasted Honeycomb, which has added strawberry flavoring, Chocolate Honeycomb, which adds a chocolate flavoring to the honeycomb cereal, and finally Cinna-Graham Honeycomb, which adds a cinnamon flavor to the cereal.

    Corn Pops

This tasty cereal was been around since 1951 and was called Sugar Pops, it was the sponsor for "The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok" radio show. Then in 1978 there was a name and it was known as Sugar Corn Pops , which lasted for a little over a decade and then in the 1980's you guessed it another name change. it was changed to Corn Pops in , a time when many cereals dropped the word "Sugar" from their titles. Other varieties include "Chocolate Peanut Butter Pops.", and "Cinnamon Corn Pops". Sugar Pops Are tops!

    Cookie Crisp

Cookie Crisp cereal was awesome it had that delicious cookie taste that I loved as a kid, it tasted just like a chocolate chip cookie. But after having my parents get it at the store for me I quickly found out it’s great for parents too as one Saturday morning I walk into the kitchen to find my dad having a bowl of my cereal !

    Honey Smacks

This delicious cereal was originally called Sugar Smacks, and like the Cookie Crisp cereal this was a cereal parents liked also and was the one I would catch my dad stealing a bowl of most when growing up. It was later renamed Honey Smacks in the 80's, when people suddenly realized they shouldn't be feeding their kids super sugary cereals. Obviously, honey is supposed to sound a lot healthier.

    Frankenberry

This was without a doubt my all time favorite cereal as a kids, I would ask for this one 9 times out of 10. But because my parents were trying to make me a well rounded child I was FORCED to try the other 4 cereals on the list LOL! I also tried the other varieties of this cereal ‘Count Chocula’ and ‘Boo Berry’ but always come back to Frankenberry and let’s face it the strawberry milk tasted great too when you were done with the cereal
