The legendary Iggy Pop is stepping behind a microphone of a different sort as he will host a music show on the BBC. Beginning March 9, Iggy can be heard Sundays from 4 to 6pm (UK time) on BBC 6. He is taking over the time slot previously hosted by Pulp singer Jarvis Cocker.

The Iggy and the Stooges album 'Raw Power' turns 40 this month, and the group is also planning a new release. Iggy Pop, James Williamson and Scott Asheton have united to record 'Ready to Die,' their second album featuring the surviving members of that lineup. (2007's 'The Weirdness' featured the surviving members of the Ron Asheton-fronted Stooges lineup.)

Original Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton passed away in 2009, but his dynamic playing and presence has not been forgotten. On April 19, 2011, his former bandmates held a tribute concert to honor his legacy and music. A DVD from that night, appropriately titled 'Tribute to Ron Asheton,' is now making its way to DVD on June 4 via MVD.
