A California-based vegetable packer has issued a voluntary recall according to the FDA

Blue Bell Ice Cream announced Friday that it has suspended operations at an Oklahoma production facility that officials had previously connected to a food-borne illness linked to the deaths of three people.

Blue Bell has issued a recall on products produced in its Brenham, Texas facility after they were linked to confirmed cases of Listeria in Kansas.

Warning after warning and news story after news story but the sick and death toll climb due to the listeria found in cantaloupes shipped across the country by Jensen Farms in Colorado. In Oklahoma, one death has been confirmed and eleven illnesses have been attributed to the tainted fruit. Listeria can grow at room temperature and also in fridge temperatures, so keeping your lopes cool won't work.
