Justin Bieber couldn't resist dipping his toe into the Taylor Swift-Kim Kardashian feud on Tuesday morning (August 2), sharing an Instagram photo of a FaceTime with friend and collaborator Kanye West captioned "Taylor Swift what up." And while Taylor's fans immediately jumped to defend the "Blank Space" singer online, it seems Taylor (or rather, the hip-hop slang coined by black artists that she was paraphrasing) had it right — the haters ARE gonna hate hate hate hate hate.

Re-"Purpose"ing Justin's call out, Twitter users soon had a field day with the trending hashtag #TaylorSwiftWhatUp. Yes, snake photos were involved, as were the suddenly internet-ubiquitous Arthur memes.

Taylor, who is currently between album cycles, has been mostly silent on social media since July 17, after Kim Kardashian shared videos of the conversations between Swift and Kanye West over the lyrics to his song "Famous."

"Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination," Swift wrote of the recordings, which she had reportedly attempted to have destroyed, in an Instagram note. The only other photo she's posted since was a birthday tribute to her friend — and Justin Bieber's ex — Selena Gomez.
