The 16 nominees for the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees were announced including KISS, Nirvana, and N.W.A.

Which is kind of ironic, since Gene Simons caused some controversy recently, by suggesting Kurt Cobain didn't deserve 'icon' status just because he died young.

The rest of the nominees are: Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, LL COOL J, The Meters, The Replacements, Linda Ronstadt, and Cat Stevens. Along with Link Wray, Yes, the Zombies, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, and Chic.

You might not have known, but you can vote alongside the 600 industry types too. From now until December 10th, you can cast a ballot online at USA Today, Rolling Stone, and The Rock Hall itself. The top five fan favorites are taken into consideration.

The actual induction ceremony is next April. Last year's class included Rush, Randy Newman, Public Enemy, Donna Summer, and Quincy Jones.
