The Weeknd's brand new My Dear Melancholy EPwhich dropped very early Friday (March 30), is directly addressing his breakup with Selena Gomez, fans have deduced.

The Weeknd, who dated Gomez through the bulk of 2017, has evidently addressed his relationship on the track "Call Out My Name," which includes the lyrics "I said I didn’t feel nothing baby, but I lied / I almost cut a piece of myself for your life."

Fans and followers have insisted the sentiment is a direct reference to Gomez's lifesaving kidney transplant, and how The Weeknd was a possible candidate for donation (Gomez's BFF Francia Raisa was ultimately the donor).

Gomez and The Weeknd seemed to make their relationship official in April 2017 with a kissing photo, only to break up a few months later in October. Gomez later told Billboard that her relationship with the singer was something she valued greatly.

"Something that I’m really proud of is that there’s such a true friendship [between me and The Weeknd],” she said. I truly have never experienced anything like that in my life. We ended it as best friends, and it was genuinely about encouraging and caring [for each other], and that was pretty remarkable for me.”
