Transit of Venus Happening Today And It Won’t Happen Again Until 2117!

This is the last time in our lives that we can witness something as awesome as the 'Transit of Venus.' The next transit will be in 2117.

The cool and very rare event is happening today starting at 5 p.m. The planet Venus will pass directly between the Sun and Earth.

From Earth people can observe a small dot moving across the face of the Sun!

In a recent interview with the Oklahoman, Astronomy Club President Brad Ferguson said: ‘This is the last in the lifetimes of anyone that is alive today,’ Ferguson continued ‘It’s only on these rate occasions that the planets will line up right and you can see the planet cross the face of the sun.’

The Oklahoma City Science Museum will host a ‘Transit of Venus’ watch party. The transit should take about two hours and museum staff will be giving a presentation on the transit during the observation.
