The holiday season is right around the corner. That means there are lots of things coming up that we have to look forward to. Spending time with our families, paying respect to our ancestors, giving thanks for all we have, stuffing our bellies with delicious food and of course...being on the look-out for idiot drivers on the road causing preventable accidents.

From road rage and unnecessary speeding, to not knowing how to drive and just plain stupidity; the above clip shows some of the worst preventable car crashes ever. One has to stop and ask themselves, "WHYYYYYYY???!!!" Like, WHY did you think it was okay to make a last minute turn in front of an on-coming SEMI-TRUCK??!! Or, WHY did you think you could do 100mph in a 45mph lane, trying to beat/run an ALREADY RED LIGHT??!!

According to, “Defensive driving is not just a catch phrase for ticket dismissal or point reduction courses; It is also a safe driving technique that all drivers should use."

The website also mentions that driving defensively includes:

  • Looking ahead and expecting the unexpected.
  • Controlling your speed.
  • Maintaining a safe following distance.
  • Preparedness for the reactions of other drivers.
  • Driving safely for weather and/or road conditions.
  • Being alert and distraction free.
  • Watching and respecting other drivers.

Patience is a virtue...impatience (on the road) is just plain ignorant. Especially during the holiday season when traffic is unusually high and incredibly congested. Let's all take extra caution this season to go above and beyond when it comes to executing our defensive driving sensibilities and be on the look out not just for ourselves, but for other drivers as well.
