Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’ is not only one of the more anticipated movies of 2012, it’s also one of the more mysterious. Is it a prequel to Scott’s classic sci-fi film ‘Alien’? Or just another haunted house movie set in outer space? Now that the trailer is here, fans have even more to chew over.

‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ can be a tedious song to sing (and listen to), so Jimmy Fallon livened it up a bit on Wednesday’s ‘Late Night.’ Instead of three French Hens, eight maids-a-milking, and six geese a-laying, Fallon and his ‘Late Night Carolers’ sang about Charlie Sheen, Kim Kardashian, the Royal wedding, Herman Cain, Occupy Wall Street, and other big news stories from 2011.

For a while there it looked like ‘The Hobbit’ wasn’t even going to get made, with the lawsuits and contract negotiations and all that. But it’s coming, and fans can now geek out over the first trailer for the next entry in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ saga.

Another day, another Hollywood lawsuit. TMZ reports that director James Cameron, his production company, and 20th Century Fox are being sued for stealing the idea for the hit movie ‘Avatar,’ the number one film of all-time. A screenwriter claims that Cameron stole the idea from two different screenplays he wrote and wants $2.5 billion. That’s right, it’s BILLION, with a “B.”

It seems like we’ve been teased forever when it comes to the Christopher Nolan’s third and final ‘Batman’ movie, but that’s all over this week as the official trailer for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ has hit the web!

Remember the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk?’ Well, ‘Jack the Giant Killer’ will make you forget all that. This new movie is a big-screen adventure, with epic battles and warriors on horseback and a farmboy accidentally opening a portal to another dimension. But those magic beans still figure into the plot.

In what may be the perfect summation of the crazy year that was, Rebecca Black, the internet sensation who sang the notorious song ‘Friday,’ was the top Google search term for 2011. Granted, Google doesn’t take into account searches that were made ironically and/or while inebriated.

As if surprise guest stars like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Tracy Morgan, Chris Kattan, and Horatio Sanz wasn’t enough, this weekend’s ‘Saturday Night Live’ also had an appearance by a major film star: Jude Law. Law showed up on ‘Weekend Update’ to discuss the craft of acting with Nicolas Cage in another edition of ‘In the Cage.’
