
Army Birthday Parade Has Been Canceled for Saturday, June 14
UPDATE, 10 a.m. 6/13/2025: City of Lawton Mayor Stan Booker issued a statement regarding the cancellation of Lawton's Army Birthday parade.
UPDATE, 5:18 p.m. 6/12/2025: Lawton’s Army Birthday parade has been canceled. The City of Lawton and Fort Sill have made a joint decision to cancel the parade due to “credible security threats and planned protests.”

Lawton is proud to be home to Fort Sill! And this weekend, Lawton will celebrate the Army's 250th birthday with the Army Birthday Parade on Saturday, June 14. Multiple roads will be closed in downtown Lawton starting at 5:30 a.m. Saturday for the parade.
The Army Birthday Parade will start at 11 a.m. Saturday from Central Plaza and will make its way west down C Avenue then continue north on 11 Street/Fort Sill Blvd before turning east on Ferris Avenue to conclude at Elmer Thomas Park.
The theme for the Army Birthday Parade is "Service Through The Decades," and will focus on the brave soldiers who have served our country from every branch of the military throughout history.
Lawton Road Closures for the Army Birthday Parade
Road closures in Lawton will begin early Saturday morning for the Army Birthday Parade. Check out the full list of road closures below:
- 5:30 a.m. - Staging Area on SW 1st St
- 6:30 a.m. - C Ave between 2nd and 11th Street
- 8 a.m. - Fort Sill Blvd between Gore Blvd and D Avenue
- 8:45 a.m. - Side roads along Fort Sill Blvd and Ferris Ave
- 9:45 a.m. - Ferris Ave between 11th and 6th Street
- 10:30 a.m. - Gore Blvd between 10th and 12th Street
Roads should open up periodically after the parade concludes.

Celebrate the Army's 250th birthday on Fort Sill.
Before the parade on Saturday, Fort Sill will host a birthday celebration on Friday, June 13 that will be open to all residents of Lawton and surrounding communities. The celebration will be on Fort Sill and will feature historic and modern live fire demonstrations, Field Artillery and Air defense Artillery static displays, drone demonstrations and more.
The celebration will take place from 8-11:30 a.m. Friday on Fort Sill. The City of Lawton is offering free transportation to the celebration on Fort Sill through LATS. Lawton residents can leave from City Hall at 9 a.m. Friday on a LATS bus with no reservation. Residents will need to bring a photo ID to attend the celebration on Fort Sill.
