Groundhog Day is set for Sunday, Feb. 2, but the Farmers' Almanac has already released its spring outlook for this year, and Oklahoma is expected to have warm, wet and thunder-filled spring.

According to the Farmers' Almanac, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas and Louisiana could see a warm, wet spring that may spawn many thunderstorms. And people in these areas are all too familiar with this type of spring. Spring is considered storm season in Oklahoma, so residents know to expect heavy rain, high winds, hail and possible tornadoes during this time of year.

Oklahoma could see an unsettled Easter.

Easter is set to take place on Sunday, April 20 this year. Most Oklahomans spend their Easter Sunday outside hunting eggs, but the weather on Easter in Oklahoma this year may not bode well for any outdoor activities. According to the Farmers' Almanac, the plains, including Oklahoma, could see an unsettled Easter.

The NOAA, in meteorological terms, defines "unsettled" as "a colloquial term used to describe a condition in the atmosphere conducive to precipitation." An unsettled atmosphere can also lead to strong winds and other unpredictable weather conditions. So Oklahomans will want to remain weather aware as they make their Easter plans for this year.

A wet Memorial Day may be in store for Oklahoma this year.

The Farmers' Almanac is expecting most of the south central region of the United States to experience a "very wet holiday weekend." This year, Memorial Day weekend will take place Saturday, May 24 through Tuesday, May 27, with Memorial Day on Monday, May 26.
