Negative Temperatures May Be Headed for Oklahoma

Winter isn't done with Oklahoma yet. After Winter Storm Blair brought in freezing temperatures and the recent widespread snow event, Oklahoma has only received a taste of winter. Negative temperatures and possibly more widespread snow is expected to make its way to Oklahoma Jan. 19-23.

After this week's winter events come to a close, meteorologists are looking towards the next big winter weather event in Oklahoma. Earlier this week, KFOR Chief Meteorologist Mike Morgan first made Oklahomans aware of the next big winter event.

As the recent snowfall wrapped up in Oklahoma, Morgan stated on his official Facebook page that his previous predictions have not changed. He still expects Oklahoma to receive temperatures at zero or below and widespread snow Jan. 19-21.

Now social media meteorologists are making the same claims that negative temperatures could overtake Oklahoma Jan. 19-25 and these temperatures could also penetrate deep into Texas.

This next winter storm is expected to be worse than this recent storm as the temperatures could be much colder than this past week. Some of the forecasts for this time period are expecting temperatures to reach anywhere from 13 to nine degrees below average.

The NOAA eight to 14 extended outlook is also expecting Oklahoma's temperatures from Jan. 17-23 to be below average.

The NOAA is also expecting Oklahoma's precipitation to be above average during this time.
