Summer doesn't seem like it will ever end in Oklahoma, and Oklahomans are dreaming of cooler weather. Luckily, the first frost will come to the Sooner State sooner than Okies think.
Although Halloween decorations are already hitting shelves across the state, Oklahomans are still cranking their air conditioner and cooling off in the pool or at the lake. But before we know it, the days of fall will be coming up quick. Which means Oklahoma plant lovers will want to start making frost plans for their gardens.

When will Oklahoma have its first frost in 2024?
The exact dates for the first frost in Oklahoma varies on location. Those in the panhandle usually have the earliest frost date, while those in the southeast corner typically have the last.
According to the Farmers' Almanac, the average frost date for those in the panhandle is around Oct. 15. As cooler weather makes its way through the Sooner State, central Oklahoma has an average frost date of Oct. 27. And those in the southern and eastern parts of the state have an average frost date of Oct. 30 and Oct. 31.
