
Oklahoma Could See Over Two Inches Of Rain This Week
More rain is on the way to Oklahoma! April showers ramped up at the end of April and broke records across the state with some areas receiving over a foot of rain. Another round of rain is expected across Oklahoma this week and some areas could see over two inches by Saturday.
Oklahoma had the wettest April in the state's history this year. Areas around Lawton, Oklahoma, saw 17.11 inches in the month of April alone. With more rain on the way, areas like Lawton are concerned about more flooding. The National Weather Service in Norman as already placed multiple counties in Oklahoma under a Flood Watch.
Showers started Monday morning in southwest Oklahoma.
Oklahoma had a sunny weekend to prep for the next round of rain. Showers started moving into Oklahoma on Monday morning. Rain is expected in southwest Oklahoma through the afternoon. A few light showers are expected in central Oklahoma this evening.
Severe weather is expected in southwest Oklahoma on Tuesday, May 6.
Severe weather is also expected to return to Oklahoma this week! Southwest Oklahoma could see severe weather Tuesday morning and during the day on Tuesday. Storms are expected as early as 3 a.m. Tuesday and could continue into the evening.
Severe storms on Tuesday could produce hail up to golf ball size, damaging wind speeds up to 70 miles per hour and a very low to low tornado potential.
Heavy rain and flood risk expected throughout Oklahoma this week.
Oklahoma is still saturated from last month's rain and catastrophic flooding. With more heavy rain expected, more flooding is expected Monday night through early Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, "heavy rain could lead to another round of flash flooding and river flooding."
Rain and storms expected to continue through Friday in Oklahoma.
More rain and severe weather is expected through Friday in Oklahoma. And it looks like Oklahoma may have another sunny weekend before another uptick in severe weather.
