Oklahoma Expected to Warm Up After Cold Front
This weekend's cold front is highly anticipated by all of Oklahoma. But local meteorologists are urging Oklahomans to enjoy it while it lasts. Oklahoma is expected to warm back up by the second week of September.
A strong cold front is set to move into Oklahoma on Friday, August 30 that will bring cooler temperatures and increased rain chances to Oklahoma. A majority of Oklahoma is expected to see rain over Labor Day weekend.
And in some areas, temperatures will be below average for this time of year. Temperatures will begin trending downwards after Thursday, August 29 as the cold front is expected to move in Friday. By next week, most of Oklahoma will see temperatures in the 80s.
The heat is expected to return to Oklahoma after the first week of September.
Friday's cold front will carry on into next week with continued cooler temperatures and rain chances.
But the National Weather Service in Norman has warned Oklahomans that the heat is expected to return after the first week of September.
That's disappointing for most Oklahomans, but there is still good news: the hottest part of the summer is over. According to the Oklahoma Mesonet's ticker from August 29, Oklahoma is beginning its "decline into more temperate territory climatologically."
The NOAA's extended forecast expects Oklahoma to experience near normal temperatures after this weekend's cold front. This change in temperatures is expected to keep the previous extreme heat away from Oklahoma.
