Snow is definitely coming to Oklahoma on Thursday, Jan. 9, but the amounts each area might see is still up in the air. All week local meteorologists have been trying to determine how many inches of snow various areas of Oklahoma will receive, but those amounts have been fluctuating daily as Thursday approaches.

One thing that all meteorologists are agreeing on is that southeast Oklahoma is expected to see a bulk of the snow. Areas near Ardmore, Ada and south towards Durant are expected to receive anywhere from two to four inches of snow starting Thursday. The counties around Durant and up into eastern Oklahoma have already been placed in a Winter Storm Warning.

The rest of Oklahoma, those in southwest, western, northwest, central and northern areas of the state have been placed in a Winter Weather Advisory. The Winter Weather Advisory went into place at 12:33 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8 and will be in place from 6 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9 through 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10.

The counties under the Winter Weather Advisory are to expect snow up to two inches and should plan on experiencing slippery road conditions impacting commutes in the morning and evening on Thursday. Residents are encouraged to slow down and use caution while traveling.
