Can Mr. Gatti’s Pizza Compete in Lawton?
If you've never had Mr. Gatti's pizza before, it's a staple in other parts of the country. It's big in Texas, huge in Louisiana, and was always a bargain-basement deal for families... but the times are changing.
My family loved Mr. Gatti's when we were all kids. It was a Sunday treat where the whole family of five could eat out for $10. Mom and Dad still say it was the best pizza, but we haven't lived near one since the 1980s.
With a new location set to open in Lawton inside the Quannah Parker Trailway Walmart, there is a question of whether it can compete with so many other bargain-basement pizzas around it.
Just a block away, there's Laugh Out Loud, and say what you want, that's some mighty fine cheap pizza. The kids love it, but so do I.
A mile away is Chuck E. Cheese also offering pizza and games... and if cheap pizza is the main idea, Little Caesar's is half a mile down 67th Street. Can Mr. Gatti's compete with prices like these?
Then again, most people will gladly pay any cost for good pizza, and who knows, maybe they'll see success in the convenience of it all too. Either way, it'll be nice to have a taste of home here in Lawton.
