In what might be the weirdest news of 2025 so far, Southwest Oklahoma is the greenest part of the Sooner State at the moment.

Why is that weird? While we do tend to green up this time of year, it's usually a muted and somewhat brown tinge of green. But we've had so much rain in the last month, you'd be hard-pressed to find a brown patch of grass anywhere in this corner of the state.

The last blooming trees are starting to bud out now, so the green pop is going to be even more impressive in the next week or so. The only thing nature needs at this point is a little heat to really get the Bermuda grass going.

If you haven't taken the time to go explore a little bit of Southwest Oklahoma recently, and with the weather we've had, that's understandable, you should take advantage of the unseasonably nice forecast and go do just that.

Who knows what you might find.

The Beauty Of Southwest Oklahoma

Too many people spend too much time complaining about being in Southwest Oklahoma. If only they'd shut their mouths and open their eyes (and camera app) from time to time, then they'd see the true beauty of this place.

More Oklahoma Phrases That Stump Non-Okies

Depending on how old you are and how big your hometown is, these Oklahoma phrases will be either really familiar or not at all.
