The Most Haunted Hospital in Oklahoma Is Still Open for Tours
Oklahoma has a long, wild history. You’ve got oil booms, cowboy towns, and small cities that built America’s heartland from the ground up. But the state’s story doesn’t stop with history books. Oklahoma’s also home to Bigfoot sightings, haunted highways, and ghost towns that still whisper after dark.
And of all the creepy stories floating around, one haunted spot stands out above the rest…
Spoiler Alert: It’s not the Brady Theater
Way up in Northwest Oklahoma, tucked inside the quiet little college town of Alva, sits what many say is the most haunted place in the state: the old Plains Hospital. These days, it’s known as the Cherokee Strip Museum–Alva.
Built in 1932, this two-story brick building has seen a lot more than your average small-town hospital. Over the years, it’s been a school, a pharmacy, a wartime army barracks, even a POW camp. With nearly a century’s worth of souls passing through its doors, it’s no surprise people claim it’s packed with lingering spirits.
If you’re brave enough, you can visit it yourself. The museum offers guided tours and even lets you explore parts of the building on your own.
And for those who really want to test their courage, you can book an after-hours paranormal investigation.
