Bingo Raves Are Coming to Oklahoma City in October

It was always a favorite passtime for my grandmother: grab your favorite dobbers, your five or six cards and try your luck at bingo. Things have taken a whole new level at OKC.

Usually, the bingo hall is quiet and slow-paced, sometimes you don't even need a mic to read off the numbers being drawn. This new thing called "Bingo Raves" turns the game (you guessed it) into a literal rave. Glow sticks everywhere, confetti flying in the room, lip synch battles - that's just the tip of the iceberg.

"People aren't coming to win money" is the perfect way to describe what this experience is about. In some places, it's even turned into a cheap, fun idea that you can't really replicate anywhere else.

They may not be winning money, but people are still winning plenty of things. People have won plenty of vacations and getaways, while some lucky guests walk away with a beer helmet and a fan. Good news is: bingo is still very much a game of luck, even with a rave round involved.

Guess the youngbloods got a little bored with just regular ol' bingo, so they added a twist. It started in the UK and has made it worldwide. This year, October 5, it's coming to the Tower Theatre in Oklahoma City.

The Tower Theatre has been a prime entertainment hotspot in the middle of Oklahoma for 87 years.

From movies to live music shows, only the best was being shown at the Tower Theatre. The Beer City Music Hall has always shown a variety of acts, never focusing on just one genre or style.

Yes, Oklahoma is known for country and red dirt music, but the Tower Theatre is the same place you can see the folk group, Tophouse, just days before a death metal group called Mothica on the same stage.

They just announced the official date for the Bingo Loco event, October 5. Don't forget a few things before going:

The Tower Theatre does not accept cash; there's no gaurantee there will be tickets available on the day of, so get tickets ahead of time. The link to purchase is here.
There WILL be flashing light shows, loud pumping music and plenty of people - this is probably not the bingo you should be taking your 93 year old grandmother, to... unless she's down for it.
