How Did Oklahoma’s Largest Lottery Winners Spend Their Winnings?
Over 17 years ago, a couple from Muldrow, Oklahoma had their lives changed by one heck of a Powerball ticket. After recently having some of their property auctioned off this year, we've got a new chance to see what Don and Joyce Harvey spent their luckily-earned money on.
The Largest Powerball Winnings in Oklahoma
Back on June 27, 2007, Don and Joyce Harvey won $105.8 million with their winning Powerball ticket, taking home the lump sum of $33.3 million dollars after taxes were taken out.
Back then, the Harveys were modest and tight with their money, not spending it on things they didn't really need. When they won the Powerball, now known as the largest Powerball winnings in Oklahoma, they promised themselves that their lives were no different than before.
Spring Auction at the Harveys'
Earlier this year in April, the same day that Hillsdale, Oklahoma saw an EF1 tornado, the Harvey family was having some of their property liquidated in an auction hosted by Border Town Auctions in Muldrow, Oklahoma. Luckily, the storms were far from the auction site.

Unlike some of the lottery winners in the past known for shelling out all of their money and having nothing left to show, the Harveys were simply downsizing, according to a quote from the auction company.
"Don and Joyce have decided it's time to slow down a little and enjoy life. They are looking forward to traveling more and to do that means liquidating some of the farm equipment, tools, misc. items and more." -Border Town Auctions
It seems like the Harveys may have done better with their money than many other lottery winners like Jack Whittaker, Willie Hurt and more.

When they first got the money, you could tell that they had good heads on their shoulders by Don's choice to buy a "new to him" truck instead of brand new. "It's not worth it to buy a brand new truck and waste money on depreciation," he had told the Oklahoman.
