After years of drug use, Saturday Night Live player and standup comedian Pete Davidson has announced he's completely sober and is urging fans with substance abuse problems to keep hope alive.

In an Instagram post published last night, Davidson tried to explain why he's been a little absent around the SNL set lately, and came clean about his behavior.

"Just wanted to let you guys know I'm okay. I know I've kinda been missing, on social media and on the show. I quit drugs and am happy and sober for the first time in 8 years. It wasn't easy, but I got a great girl, great friends and I consider myself a lucky man. I'll always be here for you guys, I promise. Remember to never give up hope because sometimes that's all we got. We are a family and I appreciate all your love and support. It's nice to be back in action," he wrote to great praise from fans.

"We were worried not seeing you on the show. You have so much to offer (which is precisely why your absence is noticed), glad to hear you're doing better!" one wrote while another noted "We're all in our individual battles together. Love conquers all & I'm blessed that you've shared your testimony."

Davidson said in an October 2016 interview with High Times that he used medical marijuana to cope with the effects of Crohn's Disease, but didn't say for sure whether he's stopped using that, too.

Scarlett Johansson will host the next SNL episode, which will air on March 11 and Lorde will be the musical guest.
