A Lawton woman is in an Oklahoma City hospital recovering from a gunshot wound to the head. She's currently in ICU and will hopefully recover from her injuries. So what happened and how did this wife and mother of three end up getting shot?

Things are starting to move forward on Lawton's new indoor shooting facility.

You may have heard all the rumors, well it's true! It's looking like Lawton, Fort Sill will finally be getting an indoor gun range, it's about damn time! Ares State Armory is working on building a state-of-the-art shooting facility right here in town.

Oklahoma legislators are wanting to entice firearm and ammunition manufacturers to move to the Sooner State. The invitation would be for new and existing gun and ammo businesses that are considering relocating.

A Lawton man is recovering after shooting himself in the leg while in his vehicle. The accident occurred yesterday evening around 7:00 pm on the corner of 38th Street and Lee Blvd. According to the reports he was trying to pull his firearm from his pocket and accidentally shot himself.

I just read an interesting article about Oklahoma Senator Michael Bergstrom filling a new senate bill (SB 1098) that would allow Oklahoma residents to purchase and own firearm silencers without all the federal regulations. If the silencer was made in Oklahoma and remained in the state it would be exempt from federal registration and regulations.

If you're planning to be a part of the gun deer or elk season you'll need to get your rifle sighted in and ready for the season. Coming up on (10-09-21) the Lawton, Fort Sill Rifle and Pistol Club will be hosting a free "Sighting-In-Day" at their gun range as a public service.

You could be unintentionally and unknowingly funding anti gun causes and companies with your purchases and who you're doing business with. The CCRKBA (Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms) has created a list of 200 businesses and corporations that are using the money you're spending with them to help fund gun control. You may be surprised at some of the names on this list, I know I was.

One of the most surprising things about Lawton, Fort Sill is the lack of having an indoor shooting range. With as big of a hunting and shooting community that we have it's crazy that we don't have one.

It's looking like the ammo shortage is finally coming to an end, at least locally anyway. If like myself you've been on the look out for ammo and haven't had much luck, things are starting to improve and we're now seeing shelves fully stocked, or close to it. Over the past year or so its been incredibly difficult to find ammo in any caliber. You were lucky to find anything at all and more often than not ended up purchasing ammo from manufacturers and brands that aren't familiar or of the quality and quantity you wanted.

As the old saying goes "Gun control is all about control, not guns." If gun control were truly about safety and saving lives those who push for it and clamor for more of the same would have to be honest for a change and admit it's not working, at all.

Yesterday (05-12-21) the Texas House rejected changes made by the Senate to the "Constitutional Carry" (House Bill 1927) which has stalled the bill from reaching Governor Greg Abbott's desk. There's been a lot of concern and confusion about (HB-1927) and as you can imagine anti-gun groups are up in arms, pun intended, about the new legislation. The bill is now in a special conference committee that is made up of members of both the House and Senate. They will meet and further discuss it, trying to reach a compromise to get approval in both chambers to advance the bill to the Governor.
