What’s in a name? Well, nothing and everything, if the subject is legendary blues-rockers Foghat, since their curious moniker meant absolutely nothing. Still, their prophetically named third studio album truly ‘Energized’ their career, when it was released in January 1974.
This week on Clash of the Classics we are showcasing two songs who's lead guitars are probably the best in all of rock music. The most recognizable - "Slow Ride" by Foghat and "Layla" by Eric Clapton (or Derek and the Dominos...whichever you prefer).
The latest movie in MTV's 'Jackass' franchise, 'Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa,' features the usual mess of nut shots and gross-out gags. But this one's a bit different than the three movies that have preceded it; this one actually has a plot. Plus some classic rock from Foghat and Warrant in the trailer.
After more than 40 years together, the members of Foghat have developed a special bond with their fans. So when it came time to add lyrics to their latest single, they knew exactly where to look.
By the time they went in to record their seventh studio album, Foghat had already forged a very successful career by melding blues and rock. They continued that winning streak by releasing 'Stone Blue' in May of 1978, but the album also heralded the musical changes that would eventually lead to the band's commercial undoing.
